Steps for PLA Foam Production

There are four steps for PLA foam production:

 I.                   Assessment.  From our collective 100+ years experience in the foam industry, we can state with certainty that every foam tandem extrusion system is unique. Because of this certainty, and the particularities associated with PLA foam extrusion, an assessment has to be done on site in your factory by our experienced personnel. Typically, an assessment involves determining suitability of your extrusion system(s) for PLA foam production, assessing what, if any, necessary equipment must be in place or augmented, and a sit-down, frank discussion with your management about your company’s goals and philosophy of foam production and the like (e.g. minimum process requirements vs. state of the art process requirements). It is not unusual for an assessment to take 2 to 5 man days per extrusion line surveyed. The assessment is coordinated by our companies after a suitable consulting arrangement has been achieved. To request a consulting proposal, click here.

II.                Report.  Within thirty (30) days after the assessment phase, we generate a report on the state of your factory’s equipment, augmentations or new equipment we recommend, and a budget outline of the various costs involved in PLA foam production. The goal of the report is to inform your company of what equipment it has, how it needs to be made better, what kind of other equipment may be necessary, and the various costs associated therewith.

III.             Proposal for Hardware Purchases & Licensing.  After the report, if your company has continued interest in moving forward with PLA foam production, we may prepare a series of hardware budgets, quotations, and a license proposal for your company’s review.

IV.              License Agreement. If the proposal is acceptable to your company, we prepare a formal license agreement. Once signed, production of your Turbo-Screws® technology screws commences. Within 18 to 24 weeks after signing of the license agreement, your Turbo-Screws® for PLA foam production screws are delivered to your factory.
