| Frequently Asked Questions ~ Business
How much do Turbo-Screws® cost?Turbo-Screws® are not sold, but are licensed for use by our customers. Costs are competitive and very affordable. Users pay a modest fixed annual license fee and this fixed annual license fee can be substantially reduced as you add further licenses. You're never obligated to license Turbo-Screws® for longer than a one year period; this gives our customers maximum flexibility. Our sales staff can provide specific cost information based upon your requirements.
Is the annual license fee related to my extruder output? In a word, no. The annual license fee is a fixed amount and is not related to your existing or improved extrusion throughput rate.
What is licensing? Can’t we just buy the Turbo-Screws® ?Licensing, in this case, is a mechanism to provide you with high value, patented capital equipment and process technology at an annual cost which is substantially lower than the costs of a direct purchase. Just like a rental contract, license fees are usually fully expensed in the period of occurrence. By comparison, direct purchases of capital equipment involve high up front cash costs and potentially less advantageous tax implications relative to licensing as these long lived investments must be depreciated slowly over time. Turbo-Screws® technology pays for itself. By licensing Turbo-Screws® technology, we are able to provide users with a competitive advantage that may be paid for as it delivers value, all without large up front capital investment. A license allows you the right to use the technology, but not own it outright. Much like a computer software product, licensing allows lower unit costs. By providing a licensing program, you the customer can in essence buy the right to enjoy the benefits of our development efforts at a fraction of cost of an outright purchase of the world wide patents etc. Back to TopIs an exclusive license agreement available? For some markets the answer is still yes. These arrangements are normally restricted to a specific polymer, for a specific end product in a known market territory. However, we can and have offered competitor specific exclusivity. This is a question best asked after your first Turbo-Screws® licensed product has been delivered and commissioned by our staff. Once you have had a chance to validate your specific results, the matter of exclusivity is then best discussed. Back to TopWhat about confidentiality? Our business is dependant upon maintaining your trust as a customer and a Turbo-Screws® licensee. We have a standard confidentiality clause in our license, which is designed to protect your unique proprietary manufacturing information. Our interest is to gather only the basic information we require from your extrusion system in order to tailor our product to maximize your return. Back to TopWhy shouldn't I just buy a new extruder, gear pump, etc. to get my rate up?Turbo-Screws® technology is one of the most productive and lowest unit cost ways to increase your company’s sales capacity. With Turbo-Screws® technology, you enjoy a lower initial outlay of financial capital and enhanced capital productivity of your existing equipment. Unlike the outright purchase of new extrusion capital hardware, with Turbo-Screws® technology you pay as you go and only buy the capacity increase you need, when you need it. By improving your existing installed extrusion hardware productivity, Turbo-Screws® technology adds to the bottom line quickly all without great burden on the organization. With typical new foam extrusion capital equipment purchases, you must make a large step capital investment and thus inherit the need to sell large quantities of end product quickly. Turbo-Screws® technology lets you grow rationally at a calm and affordable pace. Back to TopDo I need to change my existing system in order to use Turbo-Screws®?It depends upon your goals. Before we do anything, we ask our clients what they want to achieve. Then, we listen. Only with your approval would we implement system modifications. For example, if higher throughput rate is your goal, it's a good idea to find out if your downstream equipment can handle the higher Turbo-Screws® throughput rates. Then, we recommend some options for you. You are always in control of the decision making process. That's why we ask that you contact us so that we can discuss your unique situation, in confidence. No one will work harder than us to meet your goals. Back to Top |
